The Ashland Food Angels donates about a quarter million pounds of food annually, hundreds of pounds getting delivered each week to support those in need in the Ashland and Medford area. Food is delivered daily to the Ashland Emergency Food Bank, and we also donate to the Peace House sponsored Uncle Foods Diner program which provides weekly free meals. About once or twice a month we deliver non-perishable food to Gospel Mission, which provides daily free meals to folks in Medford. We also donate items to the Ashland Library food pantry, which keeps food donations to hand out to anyone in need.
In addition, throughout the year, there are requests for food for special events, such as fundraisers, Native American gatherings, children’s events, environmental activities, etc.
To keep with our aim of reducing waste as much as possible, we give away all food unsuitable for people to farmers, who use it to feed animals or make compost.

The Food Angels team of volunteers includes students, retirees, and people who are at times struggling financially, so in exchange for their help, volunteers also benefit by having food to take home. For many of the volunteers, both past and present, this extra food has made a real difference in helping to keep their lives in balance.
